Mr. Brian Allen

Ok, my PC will startup and run normally, but when I shut it down and it
powers down, it will not start up again until I unconnect the board power
connector and reconnect it. Is this a short problem with the board and the
case? It's connected to the case with plastic screw-in clips, so I don't
know how it could be touching metal.

I'm starting to think my board might be having problems. I've had it for
about two years, and it just now started having this problem.

That is normally a power supply problem, but it can be the motherboard.

Nope.

It's connected to the case with plastic screw-in clips, so I don't know how it could be touching
metal.

It should have at least one or two screws as well as the plastic clips.

If you mean the power board, thats very unlikely indeed.

Thats because the power supply or motherboard problem has showed up.

I tried a new PS, and it did the exact same thing.

I'm using all plastic clips. Could this cause the problem?

Just as an experiment, press the RESET button on the computer before
you try to power it up. It MIGHT be a problem where the MB logic is not
being reset so that a "power on" will start the PS. Not all the logic
is powered while in standby, so it might not accomplish anything, but it
is worth the try.

Then the motherboard has passed it useby date.

It's been having some other wonky problems too, like random crashes,
especially during heavy 3D apps like Madden 2007.

If there is no ground point to the case other than the I/O panel and power
connector, then yes quite possibly this could lead to weird instances.
