Games are plenty bright with the exception of Wolfenstein
which is very contrasty. However, when I exit a game,
my desktop ( WinXPhome ) darkens a lot. I can Rclick
and go to advanced .. colors, and as soon as I click on
colors, the desktop brightens to normal. Something else
I discovered ... I have 2 users, and when I switch to
her settings, the desktop looks normally bright. However,
when I switch back to my own, the desktop goes very
dark again, and I have to restore it by clicking on colors
again. ????? On boot up, my desktop is normally
bright. Could this be a power setting for the monitor,
or maybe one of the video programs ( like Quicktime )
misbehaving. I know that Quicktime will stomp all over
audio settings permanently until you figure it out. Try
muting audio in QT, and you'll see. Something on my
system, and only in my account, is overriding the ATI
settings, except in the games, or when I restore them
by clicking on color ??
