I have been to a site with 3 pc's all running Windows XP. They can all
receive e-mails through outlook but cannot send as it comes up with
the error smtp not responding after a period of time.
However if I connect my laptop to there network and setup an identical
account within outlook then try to send it works fine.
I have tried deleting their profiles and re-creating them with no joy.
I have uninstalled outlook and re-installed it and this still has not
solved the problem.
However if I put there account details into oultook express it all
works fine.
I scanned all machines for viruses and one of the machines had the
mydoom virus. I have removed this but it has still not solved the
problem. I have contacted there ISP and there is no problem there end.
All of the machines used to work but then they all stopped working at
the same time.
It cannot be a problem with the smtp details because their account
works through my laptop on their network and it works on there
machines if I put the account details into outlook express. HELP!!!
If anyone has any suggestions it would be most appreciated as I seem
to be up against a brick wall with this one.
Cheers

It could have saved you some time if you had posted the version of Outlook!
Do you have the option to test account settings (Outlook 2002 and 2003)? If
yes, what do those tests reveal?

Sorry. One of the machines had 2003 and the other two had 2002. All of
the tests in the account settings passed fine.

Sorry. One of the machine has 2003 and the other two have 2002. When
using the test facility in the account settings all of the tests
passed, but you still couldn't send any emails.
