Hello, all...thanks in advance for taking the time to
reply.
I have a 'Cyberstik 2' Air Joystick that I've just
installed. I configure it correctly using only the
native WindowsXP Pro Gaming Devices feature in control
panel, and all of the buttons and the throttle work
perfectly. However, my POV-HAT switch only recognizes 2
directions instead of the four: Up and Right. And ---
get this --- they are reversed (i.e., when I push up, the
hat switch detects a rightward movement, and vice
versa). I'm trying to figure out whether the stick is
defective, if it's a problem with the gameport drivers
for the NFORCE2 chipset (A7N8X Deluxe model), or if it is
a problem with Microsoft's 'Gaming Device' detection and
config program.
So far, I have opened up the joystick and examined the
solders for the switch and their connections. All four
(one for each directional sense, I suppose) were solid
and looked good. Unfortunately, I don't have a computer
with another OS to try this on, but I DO REMEMBER that
the POV Hat switch worked fine when I bought it and
originally installed it on Windows98SE a couple of years
ago. I can honestly say it's pretty rare that something
will work in 98, but not in XP, so I'm tending toward the
hardware or MS Gaming config hypothesis rather than a
driver/OS issue.
Anyhow, ANY INSIGHT would be much appreciated, because I
know this is a niche product and probably a very rare
issue. Thanks!
With low expectations,
Mark
