Weird Issue during Install

Trying to upgrade from Win98SE to XP. I have removed a
ton of files and disabled or unplugged most of my
hardware. When I run the compatability check it always
hangs up when it does the system analysis. It gets to the
part that says "Processing system files" and it's looking
at one called "DVD movie player" and it just sits there.
Mind you, I can do all kinds of other tasks on my pc, so
it's not locking up the whole system. I've let it sit for
hours to see if it would fix itself, but to no avail. The
weird part is that I don't have a DVD drive, nor do I
recollect installing any software with a DVD movie
player. Anyone have any clue? I've looked throught the
KD, but they don't address this. Thanks!

Not an answer for how to fix this but some leads to follow to eventually
get around this obstacle: While in Win98, search for the exact name that
the program is stopping at: DVD movie player. Search the files on your hard
drive and search in the registry to see what turns up. You may need to do a
text string search of files as well since there may be an INI file hanging
around that makes mention of the DVD player. What happens next, depends on
what you find.

NOTE: Win98 installs a DVD Player as a part of Media Player but does not
activate it unless it finds the hardware to support it. This behavior (as
far as I know) continued through all following versions of Media Player as
well.

I did a file search and didn't find anything, but I'll try
the text string search. I'll also remove media player and
see if that helps. Thanks.
