weird explorer behavior

ever since i right clicked on the desktop and unchecked 'show desktop icons'
explorer has been acting strange
has anyone seen this before? xp mce 2005 sp2

Have you enabled the "Desktop" toolbar (deskband) in the Taskbar?

Disabling that will solve the problem. Yes, this is the only a *workaround* and there is no permanent solution.
