I'm getting real spooked by what I'm seeing lately. So many instances of random behavior that it's becoming an alarming pattern. It seems as if Windows is asking for the Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Installation CD all the time whenever users launch Word or Outlook, Internet Explorer or even Visio.
For Example:
Joe clicks on "Dismiss" when getting rid of a past due calendar reminder in Outlook. But this time, a window appears saying "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Please insert the "<some microsoft application installation CD>" disk and click OK"

What would trigger this behavior? I can tell you straight up, that it's not a feature request by the user but rather something buggy that's triggering windows...

The only other time I've seen this before was back when i had users running MS Journal Viewer installed. By removing Journal Viewer the behavior stopped. But now it's crept back into my world and creeping me out again.

HELP a non-creeper from getting creeped out!

Not sure if this applies as I am using Office XP. I have found that in
cleaning up junk files on the PC, there is a file called DATA.BAK which
resides in \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Microsoft\Office\Data. Although this is only a backup file, Windows
will ask for the CD every time you delete.
