Hi,

In trying to solve the mysterious problems I'm suffering with my P4C800
deluxe, I reinstalled XP and during the "Preparing installation" phase I got
the following message which I never got before:

The software you are installing for this hardware:
battery
has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with windows
XP.

What the hell is this? Is it about the BIOS battery?

Thanks,
Darth Elvis

The software thinks this is a laptop, and the "battery" driver has
something to do with smart battery management for a laptop. Some
laptop batteries can tell the system how fully charged they are.

The error message, doesn't actually say 'battery' anywhere. I think he is
asking if the error message, could be caused by a low CMOS battery (No).
The message simply says that one of the drivers (probably one that is
allready installed on the system - if you re-install without wiping the
partition, XP, will 'find' drivers that are allready there), has not been
'approved' by MicroSoft. This is common. Unfortunately (for instance), many
of the chipset drivers, 'lag' several versions behind on approval.
If the system was 'pre-installed', this driver was probably loaded allready,
and hence the poster never saw the warning message.

Best Wishes
