I am looking into building my own computer for the first time, and I would
like to get a powerful computer cheaper then going through a major company.
Are there any good websites with information about building your own
computer, any good websites to order the hardware at cheaper prices then the
local best buy, and are there any good online forums for other information.

(for starters).

Don't expect to neccesarily pay less than for a prebuilt (although it's
certainly problem if you stick to close out OEM prices...)....but expect
to end up with a machine that is strong on those components most
important to you, that is free of proprietary crap, and that is
therefore far more tolerant of future upgrades.....
