Websites won't accept passwords

XP Home SP2
Something appears to be blocking passwords.
Whenever a password is entered for website access, page returns to original
password entry page.
Have run adaware, spybot, combofix.
Any thoughts?

Hi Neil,
It may be, but I tried loading a PW while holding the shift key down, with
no effect. Results the same.

How about holding down ctrl & alt.
