Only some website are very slow to load (30 seconds) but most are
normal.

-XP SP2 (up to date), P4 2.8, fast cable internet
-other computers on my home network are not having this problem

-this started to happen about a week ago
-I have reset all the tools/internet options to the default value
-deleted temp files and cookies

Any ideas?

Problem solved...
I had installed Windows OneCare Live and that was causing all the
problems with random websites loading slowly. I did not try to find the
root cause, just removed the program and everything running full tilt
again.
So much for trying a free Beta!

Hi cavuu :-)

Beta programs are not full production programs, they are test programs that
is why it is called "Beta". Users who choose to install beta programs of
any kind should fully expect problems to arise here and there, thus, if they
can not afford the down time if problems arise during the testing period,
they should not install them on their only production computer, but, have a
second machine that if a problem occurs it will not cause loss of
productivity. Also, many known problems are stated in the Release notes for
the beta program that should be read prior to installation so that Users
will have an idea of what to expect. :-)

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes I knew it was Beta and the possibility of problems and had in fact
reported several to the hotline. Unfortunately I did not relate this
one to the installed program and spent considerable time trying to
resolve it. It's not in the FAQ's
Other problems:
-install problems with dialog boxes popping under other windows so they
are hidden
-constant reminders popping up saying it's working
-constant reminder saying you need to backup
-backups that cannot be customized downward (backing up unnecessary
files)
-refusal to allow certain programs to access the internet which require
the task manager to stop
-random websites loading very slow
-support is quick to answer but they must be having email problems as
they never seem to receive my replies which were sent using hotmail

To much frustration to continue. IMHO Windows OneCare has a lot of
problems that should have been resolved before it reached public Beta.

Yes....I fully understand how frustrating it can be, as I too, am testing
several new beta products, including, the WOC. However, it is the public
feedback, such as yours, that will enable the WOC team to rectify many of
the problems being reported, such as yours. That is why they offer it to
the average Users, to find out what extended problems people who will be
using it every day might encounter. I am sure they really appreciate all
the feedback you have provided, as well as that of others. Thank you for
taking the time to help out. :-)
