Hello! I have a few users having problems at my site.
One cannot get the hyperlinked buttons to take her
anywhere and the other user can't see the buttons at all.
Both aren't having problems anywhere else and noone else
is having a problem with my site. My tech support
suggested that maybe their browsers aren't working well
with Frontpage. Does anyone know if there are some
browsers that don't work will with FP, and if so which
ones?

Thanks! Donna

Please provide a URL to the pages/link that your users are having a problem
with. Do you know what browser/version and OS these users are using?

Donna,

A few items...

With NS 6.21 and NS4.08 under Windows XP, your links don't work either.

You are using a mix of VML Graphics, Absolute Positioning and the FP Java
Hover button applets.

NS browsers do not support VML Graphics and have poor support of Absolute
Positioning. The FP Java Hover button is not a good choice as many users of
Windows XP, IE6 and NS6 and up no longer have the require Java support since
a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is not installed by default, and they will not
be able to navigate your web site.

So you need to removing all VML Graphics and Absolute Positioning then
consider removing the hover button applets and replacing with JavaScript
Mouseover if you really feel a need to keep the effects. Also remove all
spaces from folder and file names, which is not supported by some browsers.

Thanks so much! I am glad to find an answer :) I am not
very computer savvy however. Can you tell me in laymans
terms how I can tell the difference between VML Graphics,
Absolute Positioning and Java Script Mouseover. And
perhaps you can help me with how to use or where to find
the Java Script Mouseover. Thanks again for your help!

Donna

VML Graphics are created any time you draw a shape on your page or use
WordArt, etc. and then Absolute Positioning is use to position the shape,
etc. on your page.

These easiest way to get rid of this, I think is to just delete each menu
item on the left, then insert you text or image, see below for images, which
should get rid of all the VML and absolute Positioning code.

Personally I prefer plain text link, since search engine prefer them over
any other type of link, but if you want to use images mouse overs, then...

You will need to create two image for each links in a image application,
save as GIF images, then import into your current open FP web, then insert
the first image on your page, then you can use the FP DHTML Menu option to
add the second image as a mouse over. I can't provide you with any
additional steps, as I don't have access to my machine where I have FP2002
installed, dead monitor.

Just one more question! So, if I use the plain text link
or the GIF images, what is the best way to place them on
the border? I think I was using an autoshape to frame the
buttons, but should I use framing or is there a better
option? Thanks for your help! I'm afraid I have to get
some sleep so I will check for an answer in the morning -
have a great night and thanks for the answers!!
