My website takes too much time opening

How do I clean up the page and speed up the time it takes to open graphic's
and photo's

I publish using Front Page 2003

Resize and optimize your images prior to importing them into your FP web.
Can't say much else without seeing the website.
Post the URL for more recommendations from others.

loads pretty quick here in spite of the page being incredibly long with lots
of images. There are only two that are large files..the first one with in
the body, and the Rick Dee one, between them they are 200K, then you gots
all them little ones. You really should break that page up into a few pages,
not many people will have the patience to scrooooooolllll all the way down.

there's other stuff too, like junk code from using Word.

Rob,

Up until this week the site opened real fast for me on my PC...then
all of a sudden it takes up to 25 seconds for it to fully open.

I usually add two or three stories each week and remove two or three from
the opening page and put them in the Archives at the bottom of the red panel.
Readers are from the radio and music industry, averaging 8 to 10 thousand
monthly.

I do have a question...what do you mean by " there's other stuff too, like
junk code from using Word."

I notice when I go to the "Reports" of Front Page I have
a total of 711 files, or 86,896kb
of which 205 files or 28,361kb are "unlinked"
Unverified hyperlinks - 2834
Broken hyperlinks -129

Should this be "cleaned up and if so how do I do it without deleting any
of the files that are in use?.

Many of your images have not been placed into FrontPage properly. They still
reside on your hard drive, not the server and will never load.

For instance: Location:
file:///c:/Documents%20Settings/Compaq_owner/My%20Documents/My%Web%20Sites/subsite/KTLK.jpg

Another:
file:///c:/Documents%20Settings/Compaq_owner/My%20Documents/My%Web%20Sites/subsite/micknewbig2.jpg

You must import those images into your web sites "images" folder and the
insert the image from the images folder.

Unlinked Files: These are files that cannot be reached from your Home
Page using non-scripted links. On the Unlinked Files report, look at
the "Links To" column, which will indicate how many pages actually do
link to them (these will be links from other Unlinked Files). Note that
FrontPage cannot detect links made through JavaScript, or other scripts,
but will show links made through CSS. Some of these files may be
deliberate (examples: database files, rollover images), some may be in
line for deletion.

Unverified Hyperlinks: are links to other website, or subwebs in your
own website. They also include any absolute or root relative links to
files in your own web. Use the Broken Hyperlinks report to verify these
links - you may need to be connected to the Internet.

Broken Hyperlinks: are links to files that no longer exist, or to files
that have been moved and the link not adjusted, or broken links. These
should be fixed as soon as possible. Use the Broken Hyperlinks report
(which will also show all the Unverified Hyperlinks) to edit these.
