Thank you, Rob!

Curious about how you might select one strategy rather than its
alternative... do you have any particular criteria in mind about how to
decide which way to go?

This is the official copyright office at the Library of Congress. You should
start here. Their outline is very clean and organized, and it is easy to
read and understand all of it. They describe all the possible 'types' of
publications in clear language, and include literary works, visual arts,
performing arts, sound recordings, Serials/Periodicals and more. They start
with the basics of copyright, FAQs, Current fees, and an excellent article,
"Taking the Mystery Out of Copyright."

By the time you have read through the sections you need to read you will
feel very confident about what you can and cannot do - and how to do it. I
visit the web every once in a while. Very well done. Its newest revision is
18-Sep-2007.
