Website crashes IE6

There is a website we need to access at work, but every time we go to
this site it crashes IE6. We only have IE6 installed on our work
computers for now. We are eventually going to upgrade to IE7, but
that's at least a couple of months away.

We're using XP Pro with all updates installed. Our IE is version
6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254. The website does seem to open
fine in IE7 and Firefox, but it crashes IE6 every time.

Here's the website: http://makemyairsmokefree.org/podcasts.php

As you can see, the website features a list of podcasts for
downloading. I've tried setting ActiveX to the most permissive
setting I can, and I've tried turning ActiveX completely off, but
neither option seems to make a difference. Could someone give me some
idea what's going on and how we might be able to get around it,
outside of installing IE7 on all of our computers?

Thanks.

When run with Firefox, with its Error Console open, I see two obvious
CSS errors, some CSS errors due to use of proprietary IE features, and a
JavaScript error. Both the HTML and CSS validators also report a slew
of errors.

Perhaps the first step to resolving your problem is to ask the people
who made the site to fix its defects.

Actually, that was my first suggestion to my boss, but she insisted
that I try to look for another solution. We have been in contact with
the current webmaster, but he did not create the site. All he does is
update it with Dreamweaver periodically. He doesn't appear to know
enough to fix any errors. We've emailed the original web designer,
but we haven't heard anything back from them.

I appreciate your suggestions though. I also saw those errors in the
Firefox error console and the CSS and HTML validators. Hopefully they
will strengthen my argument with the boss.

Whoever maintains the webpage should start here
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/default.aspx and here

What do you mean by "crash"? Screen locks up, error message (details?), all
IE windows suddenly close? I can display that site without any problems
with IE itself, here (XP, IE 6 SP-2). However, the site has issues - the
bottom two videos do not display, and the page does not load fully (stalls
at 10 items remaining). Other posters have indicated HTML/CSS errors on the
page, so.....

There's some Flash video on that page. So a likely cause of the crash
is the player. Try uninstalling the Flash player to see if your symptoms
stop. Then if prompted to install a player reinstall it from Adobe.

Good luck
