I uploaded some audio clips to our website and they take forever to start.
They are only about 30 seconds each but take about 1:30 minutes to start. Any
ideas anyone? Compression maybe? I know some site the audio starts almost
immeidiately.

Could you provide a link to the file(s), so the group members could test the
downloading times, to see if it is a general problem or just more localised
(it could be your 'net connection or something closer to home).

Normally audio media downloads first, then plays in a media player; unless
you have it set for "streaming" audio.

The downloading first is what takes the time; a 30 second audio clip *could*
be as big as 5mb if it is not optimised i.e. consider mono vs stereo etc.

Yes you could put it in a ZIP folder, that would reduce the file size. All
the user need do is extract the file. ZIP files are reasonably compatible
across the computer platforms, else you could also compress in file formats
to fit Macintosh and Linux users if ZIP files do not work on those O/S's.
