Webshots - Spyware or not?

I've got Microsoft Antispyware running on a couple of machines with webshots
installed, and I don't recall getting any alerts. However, I'll admit that
since I know that the users in question are deeply attached to the app, I
might have simply always allowed it and not thought twice about it.

I'm in the same boat. The users don't want to give it
up. I can't see it being a bandwith hog but if I have
enough ammo to brand it SPYWARE, I can wipe it out for
good.

I've tested my Windows 2000 computer with and without Webshots loading. With
Webshots loading at startup, I get the following message:

An Internet Explorer Explorer Bar ({32683183-48a0-441b-
a342-7c2a440a9478}) has been added to your Internet
Explorer and has been automatically allowed. Microsoft
AntiSpyware has determined this program to be free of
known spyware.

When I disable Webshots, there's no message at all from AntiSpyware.

It's annoying to get the message everyday, and I haven't found a way to tell
AntiSpyware to allow the app and not notify me.

I don't work regularly on the two machines I administer that have Webshots
on them, but I haven't heard this complaint from their users, either.

I installed the latest version of webshots and that seems to have solved the
problem. I no longer get messages about an Internet Explorer Bar from MSAS.

Thanks for letting us know.
