Does anyone know a program (preferably a notetab/notepad-like interface)
that has the ability to spell check every page open and know that it is
HTML and not plain text? I have seen this feature in wysiwyg software
(which I will use for this if I have to) but they don't seem to be able
to spell check many pages at once. A tab-based interface would be
preferable and a smart spell checker, one that knows that Linux is a
word, would be nice. I will gladly train the spell checker myself if I
have to though.

I'm still looking for a good spell checker that fits the description
above if anyone knows one. I will be happy with any for Linux or Windows.

This one is no longer supported. The window is small, but it will
check anything that you highlight, such as web page text. Tables and
forms are likely to give problems though.

What I was looking for was a program similar to a webpage editor that
spell checks pages for me. I don't really want a browser integration
because I would have to go edit the page and change it with another
program. I am looking for an editor (preferably for webpages
specifically like NoteTab Light or Mozilla Composer) that can spell
check HTMl documents (without saying <b> is not a word).

Can't think of any (don't use any)..but have you considered: simply go
for any regular spell checker that allows building of custom
dictionary, either "by hand" or via "add" button.. then grab a doc
that lists all (or most) html tags and add them - for example: spell
check the doc with html tags and sit back and click "add" button until
done?

I just happened to have html-kit installed
<http://www.pricelessware.org/2004/PL2004WEBDESIGN.htm#Editor:HTML>
<http://www.chami.com/html-kit/>, hardly ever use it
so I did not remember to have look. Did now. It delivers.

<http://www.chami.com/html-kit/plugins/info/spl_eng/>
American and British English spell checker dictionaries for
HTML-Kit. To install: go to "Tools | Install | Dictionary" from
the main menu and select the downloaded *.zip file (no need to
unzip).

Tried it, works, ignores tags.
