When I go to many websites and try to get to their pages past the home page,
like account pages at department stores, or any kind of internal admin page,
I get the old 404 message or "that website or page can't be reached" message.
I have Windows XP Home on the machine. Any ideas?

Make sure your firewall is not blocking port 443.
Go to Start | Run and enter these commans (press <Enter after each one).
