Dear folks

My kids would DIE for a webcam as part of their Christmas pressie this year. Question is - what to get, what sort of money to pay etc.... The useage will be on MSN I anticipate.

Any suggestions very gratefully received.

Kind regards

Gabriella x

PS Are they easy to install??

Cheap and nasty ones do the job suprisingly well.

Trust Spacecam 120 isn't bad, perfect for MSN use. Very cheap, but my sister has one. It's good.

Probably under £15 inc VAT so not bad! Its USB and Manual focus, so good value for money.

Try www.dabs.com

oh, and all you do is plug in and install the driver (done automatically via CD) and your away. Thats all you have to do to make it work.

the world of webcams!! how they have come so much into practice the last 6 months or so! so many people have one!

talking abt videos going out of fashion! webcams r coming in hardcore!

the moral of the story is that if it's being used for MSN, dont spend much on it, at all. Yeah ok you may get a more refined picture with a high end logitech but at the end of the day you can still see everything with the cheaper ones. I'm sure your kids wouldn't care so long as theycould use it for what they wanted to do with it.

Yup! i agree with what Chris said!

If you go for a grand worth of webcam, it will still jump and not run smoothly on MSN, it will be the same with a fiver worth of webcam!

Some cheap ones here and a bit more of a wider variaty here.

I reckon you could easily find a decent one for under £20 delivered.

Thanks guys

You always come good and I know that Chris knows his MSN - so long as the kids can see who they are talking to, they will be cool. I just suspect that I may need to buy a 2nd computer as I have all on getting access to this one!!!!!! Perhaps Santa will oblige me???? (nah, don't think so!!)

Ethel Austins do a good one that works as a small digi-cam web cam and will also do videos whilst online. And for all that you pay £12.

Not brilliant but good enough for the kids to learn on. I got my daughter one for christmas and it seems ok:thumb:

:) Yep they probably are but surely you dont want kids starting off with expensive equipment?
And after all if its only for MSN and such then it wont make that much difference anyway will it:confused:

There is cheap and inexpensive ... and then there is Junk ... I'm not knocking getting a reasonably priced Webcam, just opposed to "the trials and tribulations" of using a Trust device.

;)

My sisters Trust Spacecam 120 is good, the colours are much better than my "SiPix Style Cam Blink" which set be back £30.

It's by no mean junk.
