Hi Syddy,

I looked in the help files for Windows Messenger and I think I found some
information that will be useful to you. You can reference this by doing a
search in the help file (Press F1 when Windows Messenger is open, and click
the search tab. Type "configure your network for voice communications", and
press Enter. Select the item "Configure your network for voice
communications"

To configure your network for voice communications

Note: This information is for network administrators and those who
understand how to configure computer systems that have firewalls or network
address translators (NATs).

If you have trouble using voice communications in Windows Messenger, it
might be because you or the person you are calling is behind a firewall or
NAT that prevents a direct connection to the Internet. Because your Internet
service provider might be using a firewall or NAT, you might be prevented
from connecting, even if neither you nor your recipient is behind a firewall
or NAT.

To allow voice communications from behind a NAT for operating systems other
than Microsoft Windows XP:

1.. Ensure that your NAT is enabled for Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). If
you are not sure what type of NAT you have, check with your computer
manufacturer or NAT vendor.
2.. Install Microsoft DirectX version 8.1 or later. You can download this
from the DirectX (http://www.microsoft.com/directx/) site.
3.. Configure your NAT so that all Windows Messenger features work. For
more information, see Windows Messenger in Windows XP: Working with
Firewalls and Network Address Translation Devices
(http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/techinfo/deployment/natfw/) (which
is also relevant for other operating systems if you have DirectX version
8.1).
For information about enabling voice communications if you have a NAT or
firewall, see Windows XP Technical Resources
(http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/techinfo/).
