I recently switched back to cable modem from dialup and am trying to
get my router in the loop again. I have always had a little trouble
with this part, but it would normally take a small effort to get it all
working again. Right now I can only get one PC to work off the router.
When I connect the other one the router connects to it and I can ping
the other machine, but after a few seconds I can no longer ping the
router! I have gone around the loop multiple times trying to reset
everything since it should work "out of the box" so to speak. Both PCs
are set to get an IP address automatically and that seems to work
before the disconnect.
The real reason I am posting here is because the web site I used to go
to was www.wown.com to get all the info and insight I needed to get
things working again. But now that redirects to
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/ which is not nearly as easy to use.
Instead of a page to tell you how to get networking up under Windows
2000 they have pages for "Managing Windows Networks Using Scripting"
and "Windows Vista's New and Improved Remote Assistance". I can't
find the concise sort of info that WOWN used to have. Am I missing
something with this web site?
