Hello,
I have a cable modem connection that is supplying me with
2 distinct IP addresses. They are not static but there
are two IP's being assigned to my account nonetheless.
I am trying to set up a staging area for a web
application along with a website. I have 2 PC's connected
to the cable modem through a switch. One is running
Windows XP Pro the other is running Windows Server 2003.
Each machine acquires it's own IP dynamically and each
machine can reach the internet. I have IIS running on
each machine but neither can reach the other through http.
When I make an ftp connection, it connects with the other
machine immediately, but I can only get page cannot be
displayed when I try to connect through a browser with
http://IP Address. When I connect to the server from the
XP pro machine with https: it also works. I've also tried
from other locations with the same results. ftp and https
work, but no http.
I'm bewildered, befuddled and starting to feel ignorant.
Thanks for any help in advance,
Brett
