Web Permissions???

I am trying to edit the permissions (MS 98 / Front Page
2000) on my web and keep getting this error:

"Permissions for this web are maintained externally from
Front Page. You may view the permissions, but may not
change them"

My host says it is a Microsoft issue, not a server issue.
Any thoughts?

How are you attempting to edit the permissions? Are you opening the remote
web in FrontPage and using TOOLS > SECURITY > PERMISSIONS ?
 
If your hosted on a server running Unix, you
have to edit the permissions using your
server control panel.
