Web Pages shrunk?

Bob

Just got a new computer with Windows XP Home Edition. The
IE browser shows some site like eBay with open space on
the left and right sides. Basically everything is shrunk
into the middle. I have comcast as a provider and their
homw page also leaves open space on the right only. I can
not figure what is wrong.
When I power up th eold computer with Windows2000 and IE
6 these web pages fill up the browse side to side.

Anyone have ideas on how to fix?

Sounds like your new computer is set to use a bigger DesktopArea (aka, screen
resolution), AND the sites you are visiting are set to a fixed width.

Bottom line... there's not much you can do about it, because it was a page
designer decision. More info here:

Try manually stretching the Browser window to full screen size. Don't use
Maximize to do this. Once stretched wall-to-wall; File menu>close while
depressing the Shift Key. Be certain this is the last Window that you have
opened before you close it.

But why wouold it be fine when running the same browse
(IE 6) on Windows2000?

You just answered your own question... because its on a different computer.
IOW, screen resolution is not a browser setting.
