Hi, I have used many internet software packages such as
MSN, Earthlink, and even AOL. I have Windows XP. I can't
view web pages, or use MSN messenger. I've checked into
this problem, and can't seem to figure it out. Does
anyone know what the problem might be. I have the Windows
XP upgrade, and pretty much all the necessary updates. If
I have to reinstall windows xp, I can't find my product
code, so how would I obtain one. Thanks for any responses

at a guess are you using a fire wall product ?

if so you have to clean the internet explorer block on this to have the
window that asks you to accept that the fire wall can access the net using
internet explorer, as this was probably set to dis-allow/prevent access.

hope this helps.

if you do have to reinstall winXP, you can get your product code from the
following location.

to locate XP Product Key, open the file $WINNT$.INF,
location Windows/System 32 folder. Open it with Notepad.

You need to ensure you have the option to Show all files
and folders enabled as well as uncheck the option to Hide
protected system files

How do you connect to the Internet? DLS, Cable, dial-up, other?

Does your ISP require DNS numbers in their connection? If so, this could be
your problem.
