web page sometimes opens slowly ?

Andy100

I have XP Pro and IE6. In about 1 in 10 times, whenever i open a web page
(from a link) it hangs (egg timer !) for about 15 seconds then opens as
normal. This, as i say, happens about 1 in 10 times. It also does this on
using the "back" button.

I can open 5 instances of IE6 (webpages) then it could take 10-15 seconds
then they all open at once !!

Also, another problem is that about 1 in 20 times when i close a web page
(cross top right corner) i get the "Internet Explorer has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

I don't have any problems with folders or files opening, just web pages !

I have Zone Alarm Security Suite, Spyware Doctor, Microsoft Anti-Spyware
running (just in case anyone out there thinks it could be to do with that
! - i daren't close any of them as they are protecting me from viruses etc).

I hope someone can help !

regards,
Andy

In addition to the security programs you already have, check out these
programs and pages:

Dealing with Unwanted Malware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Note that Ad-Aware and Spybot-S&D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/cwshredder.zip
**Post your HijackThis log to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**
Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:
http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm.

You should preferably download them all (they are free), and run them in
succession.

If IE (and your system in general) is getting slow, there's time to do some
maintenance:
- Defrag your hard drive
- Empty Windows Temp file
- Empty Temporary Internet Files
- Update video drivers
- Uninstall unneeded programs

Doesn't MS AntiSpyware also assist in some of these erasure tasks?

I have searched Microsoft website and the only thing for 892211 is this:

"This article describes the Software Update for Web Folders that is dated
January 25, 2005. This update fixes two issues that occur when you use Web
folders from your client computer to connect to a server that supports Web
Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV). Additionally, this update
includes security enhancements to Web folders and adds support for URLs of
Web sites that use Security Sockets Layer (SSL)."

I don't think that has anything to do with the problem i have. Is the number
quoted wrong ??

Cheers
