web page size

In FrontPage 2003, with a web page not yet published, how do I find the
total size. Is it "all files" view in "site summary"? Or should I add the
other listings shown.

Reports -> All Files will give the total size of all the files *you*
have included in the web. If you need to know how much disc space the
web takes up, use Windows Explorer, browse to your local copy, and
right-click and choose properties. The total size disc space used is
an approximation, but includes the local copies of the _vti_cnf files
as well as all your files.
 
The only way I know of to know the "size" of a web page (I assume you mean
the total weight of the page as it affects download time) would be to add
the weights of a) the page itself, b) all images on the page, c) all images
preloaded (if they are different than (b), d) all linked javascript, CSS,
Flash, and Java Applets.

This will give you an aggregate weight for that "page" that you can use to
calculate download times - use a benchmark of 4K/second for the typical 56k
dialup.

If you right click on the root, from inside FP, and choose properties, is
that close?

No - that gives the same figures as the Reports->All files.

Additionally, the Windows Explorer method will include any subwebs,
which may be required if estimating your on line disk space usage,
reports (and FrontPage folder properties) are for the open web only.

Using the windows explorer method to find how much disk space, properties
shows, "size" 3.80mb and "size on disk" 5.42mb, 691 files in 6 folders.
What is the diference between "size" and "size on disk"?

Size on disc is the number of sectors the file occupies (1 byte into a
sector uses the whole sector) times the bytes per sector. Size is just the
filesize without regard for the sector consumption.
