when i am on ie6 (now ie7) my web pages scroll up and down all by itself. do
not know how to correct the problem

Hi,
Go to Control Panel> Mouse. Is the wheel button or another button set to
Auto Scroll?

This was posted in December... may be relevant:
We have a laptop that was doing this using a Logitech cordless optical
mouse.
We fixed it by checking the tickbox "Scroll in Active Window Only" in mouse
properties.

Try reinstalling your mouse software (drivers.)

Visit the website of the mouse's manufacturer to look for updated drivers.

Hope this helps,

In addition to Don's excellent advice, I've also seen this when the mouse
wheel becomes stuck or comes to rest between notches. Or this could happen
if the wheel itself is damaged/junked up/defective. Try another mouse, if
available.

sounds logical. no auto scroll but will check the mouse. thank you all
