Recently I have observed errors such as "Internet
Explorer" "not responding" where the page executables from
java based web pages are not responding.
Recently I have no usable browser for public pages -
(maybe dns is not working- I don't know).
I can open IE and open page requests over the vpn from
corporate behind the firewall, but cannot access my
internet email provider(smtp) or access www wem pages. I
run XP professional and use dhcp without any issues. ISP
is good, NIC card good, VPN via same is good, but IE for
www - does not work - as well as outlook access to the
internet email server.
I connect using an ethernet cable to a hardware firewall
device and use a cable modem Ip provider (these firewall
and cable devices have not been changed and currently
support two other devices that are still fuctioning)
normally for email, internet browsing, vpn , etc.
I can swap cables and ports with another laptop and the
other laptop works - so I know it is IE that has a problem
and not my hardware or isp( since other devices using same
hardware work and the IE browser inquestion still works on
WEB based vpn devicesthat I access thourh the vpn).
What could this be ? I am up to date with all virus
programs and use norton system works to maintain the
system for at least a year without a problem. I do not
understand where the bug is in IE or its relationship to
Outlook.
