I am asking this question on another machine, because my pc, or rather my
mouse, is refusing to work on this help page. It will enable the reading of
questions, but will not enable the drop down boxes, ie for a new question.
The mouse only does this on this page. any ideas

Hi Lynda,

If it was all pages, I would think it might be the scripting engine. If it
is only the one page, it may simply be the page itself. Can you provide a
link please?

well unless you are behind a corporate firewall, then you will be MUCH
MUCH better off using a proper newsreader rather than the clunky web
access. This "page" is a web-based access to a Newsgroup (commonly known
as Usenet). If you are using Windows then you already have a Newsreader -
Outlook Express.

Have a look here:
How to Configure Outlook Express for Internet News

*You* are apparently looking at a web page to read this, but most of us are
not. You perhaps don't realize that what you are accessing is not primarily
a web site, but a newsgroup, microsoft.public.windowsxp.basics.

You are accessing this newsgoup using Microsoft's web interface, which is
the slowest, clunkiest, most error-prone method there is. Do yourself a
favor and do what the rest of us do--switch to a newsreader, such as Outlook
Express, which comes with Windows. See
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/outlookexpressnewreader.htm

And what site exactly, is "This One"??

Do you mean the Frontpage newsgroup? We're not all using the Web version of
the group. Some use Newsreaders like Outlook Express.
