web page not opening with user id and passcode

I have been live editing my web site for months. The first thing I do is
open web. Then a box appears and I type in user id nd passcode. Now all of
a sudden no box appears so I can't type in user id and passocde, thus no
access.

Site is operating on the www fine. I just need to get in there and update!

Any advice?

yes, I did contact host AND I got rid of Yahoo messenger which I had recently
downloaded. Between the two --- one did the trick. THANK YOU.
