Hi

Any recommendations for a nice free web page hit counter

I did a google search, but there's hundreds of them and many seem to
have/ show sponsor links/adverts, or are these unavoidable with free
counters?

You might want to take a look at the message
and the answers to it.

Most counter providers atleast expect you to have a smal
icon/textlink/banner containing their website (quite fair imho) but there
are also those who require you to have pop-up adverts and such. You'de
better stay away from those.

To be honest, the people who are most fanatic of counters are the owners and
(to speak for myself) the designers. Therefore (and for the fact that I use
it commercially) I mostly use http://www.statsbox.nl/ It just displays a
smal icon (32x32pix) sized icon, linking you to their website, showing all
the stats th gather. On that page there are some adds, but I don't mind as
they are just simple non-intruding banner (1!) on the page itself.

For an example (of my website: http://www.statsbox.nl/show.php?name=ithulp )

Was looking at statbox, then looked at it again and have decided to
give it a go

Thanks again

Check what comes with your hosting package, often times they will have a
counter there for you to use, even the free ones are liable to have it
tucked away somewhere.
