Google search revealed many hit counter sites, some free, some trial, etc.
I'm using 2000 Frontpage and am looking for a good selection of webpage hit
counters...ability to track stats etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
stan

Yup, the problem is that everyone in the universe seems to offer a freebie
web counter, and there's usually a catch somewhere. The right counter for
you depends on lots of things:
What statistics are you particularly interested in?
How much traffic do you get/month (some have limits)?
How big a banner are you prepared to put up with?..etc.

Here's a few with reviews that may help narrow it down a bit:

Also, depending on what server toys come with your web account, it may be
worth installing your own. In which case:

I got the advice to use the free basic Netstat. Its a hidden counter and
you got a lot of statistict facts of visitors for free from them. I am very
pleased with them. You can allways look at them if you want to. And sign up
for a test drive at their homepage. The adress is:

There are so many it's really hard to say what's best for you. It's
all subjective and depends on what you are looking for. I was using
the counter at Thecounter.com then they decided to go subscription.
So I went with GoStats.com and they offer a simple counter. You can
also check who visits by country, web browser used, and OS used, plus
other categories. It's pretty decent for a free counter. Good luck in
your search.

I like the counter on this site :
http://home.t-online.de/home/juergen.haible/

Look at the bottom of the page.

"Eine Homepage ohne Zähler? Nein! Niemals!" means:
A homepage without a counter? No! Never! ;)

http://www.sitemeter.com/ isn't too bad. You can make it fairly unobtrusive,
as I have done on my site (in my organization header).
