I have XP home edition SP1. The display problem is, my
home page is fine, but if I go directly to windows update
using start menu, the only thing that shows up is the
tool bar across the top, and a blue screen below that. I
click on maximize the rest of the page will load with the
letters larger than normal. I have to scroll back and
forth to read the page. Not all pages are like that. My
display settings 800x600 16bit. I did a system restore a
couple of time but the problem persist. Thank you for
your time.

In internet explorer, click view > text size and set it to medium.

If the problem persists, click view > encoding and place a check next to
auto-select. Then click view > encoding > western european (windows)

I have had problems with trying to view the microsoft website and the
formatting never works correctly.
