Web page conversion omits pictures

I am producing a set of HTML files from a ppt 2003 file.
The resulting output lacks all backgrounds and pictures. I
find that the best conversions are done with PowerPoint 97
since it doesn't produce frames as XP does. But the 2003
version is even more frustrating since it only gives text.
The on-line help says zero. I'm sure this has been solved.
Can you let me in on it? Thanks.

Weird. This isn't the way it's designed to work, Ron.
Is there anything unusual about the presentation?
What Web Options do you have set and what browser are you viewing the
results in?

Can you put the html up on a public site where we can have a look?

If you want to avoid frames and get more straightforward (though
non-animated) html, have a look at our commercial PPT2HTML addin. There's a
free demo and more info at http://www.rdpslides.com/ppt2html/

Thanks Steve - I placed a typical collection at
http://www.chem.utoronto.ca/coursenotes/CHM347/test/
with the file structure accessible.
I use the IE 4 and higher setting and am looking at ti
with IE 6. I have tried numerous variants. The
presentation comes out fine in PPT 97 or XP.
I've also placed the PPT source file there so you can test
it yourself. I did look at your conversion program but I
would like the !!!2003 that I bought to work as well as
the earlier ones. Can we solve this internally or is there
a, dare I say, bug?

FWIW, Running the htm file, the background and the images show in both my
machines, running IE6

Confusion time, Ron.

When I look at either the HTML or the PPT version, I get both text and
graphics. There is a lag between when the text and the graphics come up, but
they both appear in more than reasonable time. I tried it on IE 6 on both a
Win XP Home machine and a Win XP Pro machine. The XP Home machine has PPT
2002 on it, the XP Pro machine has 2003 on it. I looked at both through the
browser and the PPT interface on both machines.

Perfect! But ya know what? The pictures looked fine from here, though they
were slow. The main PPT background is one image and the molecular models
are add'l images, considerably bigger ( 50 - 80k generally ). On a slow
connection, it might take a while for them to download. It was noticeably
slow even on a DSL line.

I'd visit the presentation again, go to the first slide and ... wait. See
if it eventually comes up.

I'm on IE6 too, by the way.

Thanks everyone and I am glad that Steve suggested this
test. It didn't work on the machine in my office - and
still doesn't - but Steve's suggestion that I post it led
me to try it from home - and it ran fine for me and for
you too. I am running the same version of IE here so I am
back to a machine-specific problem with IE and not with
PPT 2003. In fact, it looks great. I am running at 10
Mb/s at both sites so I have no speed problem. The whole
set of slides is posted on the course web site (for a
course on organic chemistry of biological compounds). If
you want the password let me know.

Hi,

"Phospholipids are diesters of H3PO4, phosphoric acid "

Brings back memories! The phosolipid bi-layer in cell membranes is amazing.

Please tell us your ppt version, and get back to us here

First, thanks to all who responded. I will leave the
phospholipids there for a few days for those expressed an
appreciation. As you can see, a lot of people are able to
see the pictures and background, and I was able to do so
from another computer. Still the current machine does not
see it. So I opened the HTML source files in Microsoft
Front Page 2003 to examine the code in order to see what
could cause the problem. The result is a shock. PPT
generates code that FP can't make sense of. The
programming is so complex that there is not a hope for me
to edit it. So I see now that the conversion to web pages
by PPT 2003 is at best difficult and certainly not in the
spirit that the new version of FP is trying to produce.

Good, good ...

Would you do us a favor? If you can pin down the cause of the problem on
that one computer, let us know what it was?

You might want to check the settings for IE on the good machines vs the bad
machine for differences, also I would ensure the latest video drivers are
present on all machines.
