have windows ME networked to XPhome. file and print
sharing work fine cant bring up web pages on ME seem to
time out. can ping just fine any help appreciated

Have you gone through the intenet connection sharing wizard? have you got
any firewalls?? If yes try and turn the firewall off and see what happens.
I am not a big fan of XP home to be honest, the Pro version is much better
at handling network and internet sharing

Your message is light on details, Dennis, so I'm making some guesses
here.

Have you enabled Internet Connection Sharing on XPhome? Are you using
ICS to share a DSL connection that uses PPPoE (PPP Over Ethernet)?

If the answer to both of those questions is "yes", here are some
possible fixes. Any one of them should solve the problem:

1. Install Windows XP Service Pack 1 on the XPhome computer.

2. Find the right MTU setting on the ME computer, as shown here:

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/article04-107

and then make the setting manually on ME, or use DrTCP to make it:

3. Download the free RASPPPoE program and install it on the host
computer. Use it instead of XP's PPPoE program. Details at these
