Digital cameras have better resolution, flash, zoom lenses which give
you better pictures that are clearer at larger sizes, and these can be
printed out. Most digital cameras above 2 MegaPixels also can be used
as webcams, but the one negative is that you would have to use the
batteries, because they are not powered from USB ports. The only good
thing about a webcam is that it is powered on USB, so if you do a lot of
conferencing, phone over the web, or streaming over the internet, this
would be better, and some have a built-in microphone. Webcams have poor
resolution (640x480, less than 1 MegaPixel), no flash.

I have used two Fuji 1 MegaPixel (MP) digicams to take pictures. 1 MP
are cheap now < $100 US. I also have a USB Logitech webcam that I
rarely use.

some digi cameras have microphones built in but don;t work during msn
messenger/netmeeting

By a combo. You can buy a lower end digital camera that does both.

Don't digital cameras still come with an ac adapter for optional use? Then
it wouldn't use the batteries...

Not too many come with AC adapters anymore. You can go buy one, but it
is hard to find the right match for the camera. I tried this once, and
got a multi voltage AC from Radio Shack and none of the settings worked.

Hello Sara,

I have a Creative PC-CAM 750. It's a web cam and digital camera in one. It
takes great pictures and it can be used with Yahoo/AIM/MSN messenger. I
bought it for about $129 last November, so I believe that it might be
cheaper now. Check out Creative.com and click on Web Cams or Digital
Camera's (I can't remember which), but if you click PC-CAM 750, from there
it will show you the actual pictures that the camera can take...You won't be
disappointed :)
