but when i try it on msn or any other sites such as stickam the screen is jsut black all the time

i even have it open and its working on the takeing pictures part and its black on stickam and msn so i bought a new webcam and its no different still does the same thing

anyone know what could possibly be wrong ?

well i dont think it matters what webcam really cuz ive tried too the first 1 i used was a labtec webcam or summin an the 1 im usin now is a Philips ToUcam Pro Camera; Video or whatev hmm im usin windows xp if that helps ?

sorry ull have to bare with me like i said im really bad with computers =P

well i dont actually know where that is anymore cuz it used to work i used to use it allt he time i jsut tried it recently and it doesnt work like im using it on stickam rite now and it read the camera it says im on it and stuff its just that its all black

Could you please write in full & not in mobile phone speak!
Are you sure your webcam has the facility to take still pictures?
Are all the drivers & software loaded as their should be a wizard to guide you through taking pictures??

oh sorry

like i can take still pictures just fine
there is no wizard guide for it tho
i just instantly access it through my computer

it all works fine through my computer but just as soon as i try to do anything live with it the screen is always black
and i have used this camera several times on msn at my friends house

it just seems to be my computer that does it
maybe there is something wrong with my usb ?

Try using it in a different USB Port?
When did the problem first happen??
Have you loaded any new software that might have a conflict issue???

because i havent used it in so long
hmm i may just have to ask someone to come take a look at it

thanx for ur help =]

It wouldn't hurt to download the manufacturer's latest drivers for Win XP and install them.

It could be as simple as that.

If you had given us a make and model number, we could have provided a link to the drivers for you.

And unless you know somebody who will look at it for free it's probably cheaper to buy a new webcam than pay a technician.

Logitech make the best webcams, imo
