Have a dell laptop with XP Professional, SP2, and IE6. and when trying in a
web address if you do not use the http:// on the address it takes from 30 to
60 seconds to load the page. Funny thing is you hit ctrl-enter and it comes
up in a snap with no problems. Have done a search here and tried everything
that has been suggested and still having the problems. Not wanting to reload
this computer, please help.

What sort of internet connection do you have. Is it dial up or broadband?

How fast is your laptop? What cpu does it have and how much RAM do you
have and does it have a seperate video card (if yes, how much memory
does it have) or does it just use part of RAM as video memory (and how
much)?

What do you mean by using ctrl-enter? Do you mean alt-tab to switch to
the browser from another app? Once the web page is loaded on your
computer it normally gets cached to a part of your hard drive so it
shouldn't take as long to load the next time, unless there is new
information coming from the web site or if the web site has coded that
forces it to be updated on your computer eveytime you load it in the browser

Did you know...
You can type a word in the Address bar and press CTRL+ENTER to
automatically add http://www. and .com on either side of the word

Thank you for all your help. I have the problem fixed. The usb drivers were
causing a problem, with one of the windows updates. uninstalled the update,
uninstalled usb, and then reinstalled everything and it works with no
problems now.
