The temp got up to 32 deg C earlier (90 F in old money) then a thunderstorm, which rumbled around for hours with "monsoon" rain, just as Itsme said. Still pretty hot though.
Well... You're welcome to some of the 'rain'we had up the north island this last week. Just a random cylone. A day or so of vertical rain. A few roofs blown off. A few ships didn't make port in time. A few powerlines downed etc. New Zealand isn't prone to getting cyclones (we just aren't in the cyclone belt, if they ever get this low then they've blown out & are just an annoying storm) so it was a bit of a new experience for us. have to say I was very glad that I live way down the south island though! Seems it ripped sh*t out of those northrners Luckily most people paid attention so few people were out on the roads & most were in basements or civil defence shelters so no deaths on land, however I believe one boat is still listed as missing
(Just as trivia: Being upside down to you lot the North is usually where the weather is sorta hot & humid, & the further south you go the colder & dryer the weather gets. In general the Northerners just aren't used to rough weather at all & this would've been a total shock to them.)
