Don't you just hate it when you have an operating system that WON'T let you
move all of your Documents, Music, Photos, and Videos from Partition C to
Partition D in one single click????

I mean, this Windows Vista is the easiest to use right???? WRONG!!!!!!

I should be able to tell the OPERATING SYSTEM that I WANT ALL MY STUFF ON D,
and that when I GO TO MY FOLDER AND CREATE A NEW ONE, IT SHOULD BE CREATED ON
D, NOT C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We need an update for this... There is now way around it, I mean, I DID
MOVE ALL THE FOLDERS INDIViDUALLY, to find out that I STILL WRITE AT
C:\Users\usertest WHEN I WANT TO WRITE AT D:\usertest!!!!

We had this at XP, but not on Vista????? So, Microsoft is actually
downgrading their operating systems now????

Also, MODULING AN OS IS DUMB. It is DUMB THAT I HAVE TO PAY A DOLLAR TO
VIEW A PICTURE!!!!! OR 25c TO LISTEN TO A SONG... or 5$ TO WATCH A VIDEO!!!

For many users, this would give them low space warnings, as the D drive is
often the recovery partition..

User needs to upgrade his links so it points to the new directory not
the old one. If the user had deleted the old folder after moving it,
an error message would have come up saying can't find target.
In the beginning you told it to do one thing, now you want it to do
antother and you expect it to be smart enough to figure that out on
its own? I have 1200 users at my work, some of them don't even know
what the heck a monitor is!!!! Let alone be able to change where files
are saved!!! Auto changing things is NOT the way to go!!!!

To Mike Hall... ARE YOU DUMB AS YOU SOUND!!!!!!???????!!!!!!
Why would I PUT MY FILES ON THE RECOVERY PARTITION????? I meant to use D as
any letter on any drive. Just because D is most COMMON FOR RECOVERY
PARTITION, not everyone uses it.
To Bob Campbell, and f/fgeorge... THAT TAKES TIME. THAT TAKES TIME. THAT
TAKES TIME. THAT TAKES TIME. I used to do it under 10secs... NOW I HAVE TO
PUT A FULL 10 MINUTES. Besides when I make a new folder on the My Documents
folder, they go to C:\users\stuserver, not to the new location that I
redirected ALL OF THE FILES TO. VISTA BEING DUMBER. MICROSOFT BEING
STUPIDER. No wonder NO BODY buys their software no more.

Excuse my language, but nowadays we get dumber answers to dumber questions
like mine. Such a simple feature taken away for security reasons, then why
do we have antivirus, and firewall software???? They should get a hotfix for
this, or plan to put it in on their next Service Pack, but I doubt it,
Microsoft never listens to customres just like creative.

Have a nice day.

Stuserver,
I will admit, I was disappointed too at how Vista doesn't include the move
and copy features, but I'll have to get along without it. It does take time
moving files, but I just realized today that it's all done through a stupid
features called Organize. Wow!!! Who at Microsoft came up with that dumb
idea, to actually name the drag-and-drop feature. But I know how you feel.
Vista does have a few features that seem to be a downgrade from previous
versions. There should be a fix to resolve this.

But if there was a one click solution to complete the task, many more users
would get low disk space warnings than do already.. maybe not so dumb..

Ok so Why cant you click on start, right click on music or pictures or
documents, go to properties , then click the location tab, and change the
location , say , type in D:\Documents ? it will move all your files in those
folders for you,

the exact same as xp does . gives you a pop up, would you like to move your
files over to the new location. click yes.

Its really a simple task to do. I have all mine on a network server instead
of my local machine, greatest way of keeping a backup IMHO

More than one click, and I flatly refuse to suggest anything being moved to
D.. :-)

Well, I guess i am stuck organizing a little bit slower than before.
Anyways, I did got myself mad because I do a lot of Operating system
re-instalation on my pc. Anyways I will stick to good ol' XP, while Vista is
now next to preference if the pc that I am going to do an OS installation can
run it good. Well I realize that good organizing takes time, so thanks for
telling me.

Well its all good. I just fixed a broken DC adaptor on a laptop (previous
owner forced the wrong plug on the laptop, breaking the plastic&metal piece
that holds hte ac adaptor in place.) A little bit of welding and it
worked!!!! First time opening a laptop, doing welding on it, and its all
working good. Since it's my brothers, I got him Vista (40gb HHD, planning to
upgrade it,) and he loved it. Specially after the new customizations I did
to it. (Changed boot screen and log on screen. Its so easy to do!!!)

So quick fix to me making files on the user's folder in c:\users\stuserver,
i removed the user's files shorcut from desktop and made one myself.

I swap out motherboards on laptops all the time, but soldering one would be
a pain.
I remember soldering the memory onto my first PC's mainboard...all 324K of
it! LOL
