my design firm is going thru heck right now because of this
problem.....all of our designers have both ppt 2003 and 2007 on their
machines, we *have* to keep 2003 because most of our clients are still
on 2003, we've installed 2007 in anticipation of getting more clients
with that need...but the chart feature does not work in 2007, you do
not get the extra window on the right with the data and excel tools,
the colors are messed up, you can't edit the data once you click out,
etc. what our "IT" person did was install the 2007 upgrade which
wiped out 2003, then reinstalled 2003. i'm wondering if this was not
the smartest thing to have done.

anybody else out there using both versions with this problem?

any ideas on how to fix this would be most appreciated!

I think you've nailed it right there.

You ALWAYS want to install the oldest versions of Office first, then follow up
with newer versions, then pray that it all works. In general, it does, but you
can't always be sure that what happens on your PC will also happen elsewhere,
where only one version or the other may be installed.

Anyhow, you'll probably want to uninstall both versions, then reinstall 2003,
then 2007. Choose a custom install and make sure NOT to let it toss out your
2003 stuff.
