1st thanks for the guys that helped already, we learned a bunch from
them.
We worked on this sheet for weeks, 1 problem left (I hope)
The problem is the time in cell a1 12:58 pm and the next time in cell
a2 1:15 am. 1:15am is ahead of the time of 12:58pm but excel says
nope. Even in number format of 1258 & 115 the 115 is a lower time.

Our format is a conditional format =a2<a1+11 < in number format, we
did this with the time format =a2<a1+"00:11" We did several
different ways and Excel see's 1:15am as less then the above time of
12:58pm but it's really ahead. How can I get around this. I thought I
had my sheet finished till this pm am stuff.

Thanks Bobby

Hi
I think 12:58 pm is interpreted by Excel in 24 hour format as 12:58 =
0:58 pm.
So you may enter either 0:58 am (if this is what you want to enter) or
use a 24 hour format to prevent such misunderstandings :-)

I have to use real times like 12:58 & 1:15 either in time or number
format. Excel is great but it needs more....
Thanks Bobby

Hi
and what time should be represented by 12:58 pm (in 24 hour notation)
a) 0:58
b) 12:58

We worked on this sheet for weeks, 1 problem left (I hope)
The problem is the time in cell a1 12:58 pm and the next time in cell
a2 1:15 am. 1:15am is ahead of the time of 12:58pm but excel says
nope. Even in number format of 1258 & 115 the 115 is a lower time.

On any day that I've seen, 1:15 AM does occur before 12:58 PM.

The only way in which it would be later would be if the 1:15 AM time would be
on a later day.

If, as I suspect, that is the case, you will need to convey that date
information to Excel by adding date information, or use a formula that assumes
that if A2 is less than A1, then A2=A2+1. This may or may not be appropriate
depending on how you get these values.

Ahhh! The infamous EXCEL 'Time format' problem!!!!!

I had the same sort of problem and got around it by creating a table
with the times shown in time format (I only wanted 15 minute steps, so
the table was only 96 lines) and against each time in another column I
used a 'Segment' number so 00:15 = 1; 00:30 = 2 etc. etc.

I then used the 'Segment' numbers to find the 'greater than', 'less
than' etc etc. scenarios.

Worked a treat!!!!!!!!

Just a note, I finally got it to work, took a bit from all that helped
and like magic......

, Thanks All
