Hi everyone, hate to sound so happy but I downloaded without a prob. then I
switched off all my anti virus and background programs including internet and
Beta1, then I instaled WD2. had no errors. No email probs and apart from
initialy unable to change settings, now all is running well. I use AVG $34for
3 years, fraction of the size of Symantic, scans 3 times as fast and has it's
own firewall. Even when I had the free version it never let me down, and MD2
does not have a prob with it.My free AD-Aware SE- personal also works well
with MD2.My pc is getting on in years, 1.4G AMD Atherlon. It runs remarkably
fast with 100G hard drive and 1G ram with XP SP2.Although MS might not
approve, I use Firefox browser normaly and EXP6 for MS update. So I hope this
brings a ray of hope to all of you (including MS) Simplicity is the
key(K.I.S.S).cheers

Thanks--success stories are always welcome!

I was going to place a very similar post this morning, so I'll tack it on
to
this one. Hopefully it may help someone (Microsoft included) and not just
frustrate everyone more. Mine is a success story too. WD downloaded,
installed and replaced beta 1 without incident. The scheduled updates
have
run on time, and pre-installed the last two defination updates without an
incident or an error message. I can run a manual quick scan with no
problems.

I have a single PC - no network or router. I too am running an AMD
processor (Athlon 64 3500), XP SP2, Zone Alarm free firewall, and Avast
antivirus. I have Windows Update set to download but not install. So,
this
morning, the yesterday's new definition notice was in my system tray. My
scheduled scan ran at 5am and installed the def file. No problems.

Again, hopefully this may offer some insight into what configurations ARE
working.
