In the previous version of WD “AntiSpyware. There was a “tracks eraserâ€
located in tools. I am not able to locate this tool in WD beta 2. Does anyone
know if the tracks eraser still exists?

It does not. However, this functionality does exist in IE7--which is
available as an excellent public beta now, and will likely be released in
roughly the timeframe of Windows Defender.

Will all the functions of Tracks Eraser be in this new IE7? TE sure worked
great. It was the best thing in the old product, well, in fact the only thing
I used. When my computer started acting up [sluggish or couldn't access
sites] this tool really fixed things. I'm wondering if the IE7 addition will
truly act on all the files that TE did. Why can't they just put it back in
Defender? There were a couple of flaws in it, granted, but I learned to work
around them. So, what's the story?

Actually, my recollection was that many found that Tracks Eraser had flaws,
and recommended third-party programs as an alternative.

I can't speak to whether the IE feature does everything that Microsoft
antispyware's Tracks Eraser did--it just wasn't a piece of the program that
I looked at much.

It's easy for anyone to test the new IE, though--

I've had no trouble installing this on a number of machines, and also
uninstalling it. You can cleanly (a reboot is needed) go back to IE6 just
as you left it, if you find IE7 causes you problems getting things done.
