FYI: Have just received this error code following an update request using the
Help about Check for Update option. I haven`t attempted this for ages and
wonder why this is now happening. The message presented next to the amber
shield on the Home Page says: "This program can`t check for definiton
updates." Security updates are set to Notify which worked last time round.
Now I`m getting a permanent castellated exclamation in the system area. Heres
the last few entries of the windowsupdate log file. MU is working OK albeit
very slowly. One thing I haven`t tried yet is a manual update thru the
security portal.
Could it be Defender is timing out?

Disregard my last post. I think I just happened to interogate the MU server
at about the same time that a definition change was taking place. Within the
space of a few minutes I have manualy downloaded two defs. The first mpas-fe
1.33.9759.9 and the second mpas-fe 1.33.9760.7. although the portal was still
showing the former defs. All is well now with Defender and the portal has
updated.
