I am running Windows XP and everytime I try to run a CD
containg games already loaded onto the PC I get this error:

WAVE ERROR 64
All wave devices that can play files in the current
format are in use. Wait until a wave device is free and
then try again.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Hi Questionnaire,

Have you updated your sound card drivers recently? If yes,
revert back to the previous version, if no, please update them.

I am running windows ME and experiencing the same problem as
Questionnaire. I recently fitted a Soundblaster 16 card but couldn't
find an upgrade driver for ME. When I tried to update the driver with
one specified for versions 9x ME wouldn't permit it. Even when I
'removed' the card in the system / Device manager I still are unable to
play wave files from the cd game.
Any sugestions?

Hi B40,

Try visiting the Microsoft Newsgroups directly and post your
question to the appropriate newsgroup for Windows 9x/Me.

Right now you're using a website that's copying post to and
from the Microsoft Windows XP Games newsgroup.
