Wav vs. MP3 files

I used to be able to play my CD's in home stereo, now they only work in my
DVD player. I've tried NERO and Windows media player. Both automatically
make the disc as an MP3. I don't know how I did it, but can anyone help me.
I want to be able to play them in my CD player

In Nero Express, create a new AUDIO disc, not a DATA disc.
