wav files don't play in pps file

Can anybody help with this please

I've created a slideshow and inserted a .wav file to play
automatically when the slideshow is run. It works fine on
my PC, when I email the .pps file to anybody else the
sound doesn't play.

I was thinking that it may be that the .wav file is
resident on my network home drive and therefore nobody
else has access to it(there isn't a global area that I can
save it onto so that everybody can access it)

Surely the sound is embedded in the presentation itself? I
have tried inserting it as an object but then you need
mouse action to activate it

Thanks in advance

Diane

I guess the size of your wav file is greater than 100K, so this audio file
is linked by default. You can increase PowerPoint's default setting of 100k
to more: Tools-> Options -> General tab ->Link sounds with file size
greater than ---KB. then embed your audio file again.

Delete the sound from your file. Then go to Tools/Options and put 50000
in the box for "link sound files greater than XXX kb." This will embed
any WAV file under 50MB.

Now reinsert the sound into your presentation. Note that doing this may
make the file too big to email, though.

Hello Diane,

It's very easy to break links between presentations and their supporting
files (such as multimedia and other presentations) when moving or sending
just a presentation file (*.ppt or *.pps) to someone else because Windows
doesn't know that there are dependencies in the presentation files, or that
the supporting files are linked to by other documents, and the Send to ->
Email recipient as attachment feature in PowerPoint is doesn't have a way
to include all of the supporting, linked files in a way which would
preserve the links on the other end. Since your linked content appears to
be limited to *.WAV files (the only type of multimedia content which can
actually be embedded <instead of linked> in a presentation, the workarounds
that others have suggested should solve your problem.

However, I would like to take this opportunity to lobby for feedback
regarding improvements in the various distribution features of PowerPoint
based on how they are being used and the problems that customers are
encountering either using them, not knowing about them, not known when to
use which when, etc.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
provide a way of distributing a presentation (with all it's supporting
content) as a single file which, can be viewed in it's full fidelity, with
an option to start as slide show, and without permanently
installing/copying any software on the destination computer (whew!!!),
don't forget to send your feedback to Microsoft at:

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
provide additional tools (or update existing tools) for managing
presentations and their supporting content and/or to
find/manage/repair/etc. links (broken or otherwise) to supporting content,
don't forget to send your feedback to Microsoft at the same location:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
